The trip so far......

The trip is going fairly well considering a few hiccups- I'm not exactly sure where to start but I'll start by saying the babies are going incredibly well- only fussy when hungry and due to the fact that we are "schedule people" And out here we have no schedule they are amazing me every day. Pray that continues- so far we have seen all the monuments from afar the plan is a trolley tour tomorrow. We took a tour of the capital this afternoon which wAs amazing to see where the house and senate meet. Due to the fact that the house was not meeting today Kelly ( who works for Jerry Costello) we had a behind the scenes look at things we actually got to go in the house floor! The night ended with supper at La Loma a nice Mexican place down from kelly and bens. We had a nice dinner And it just so worked out my sister in law kris is working in dc this week so she came an joined us for supper! Kelly had to stay back at the apt bc she is sick.... Now starts the bad luck of the last 24 hours.
*First off yesterday we come back to the house and their air conditioning is broke- yes in the middle of summer a broken ac... They called and called their landlord and not a repairman one ever showed...so with a fan it was somewhat tolerable for adults but simply too not for the babies. Sooo we are presently staying in hotel in Arlington. The air conditionin works greAt and the babies have had a chance to cool off have a bottle and pass out for the night.
*second stroke of bad luck hit my dad... He woke up with a Terrible swollen face and tooth ache. Poor guy ended in the emergency room before lunch- while he and mom got the tooth looked at Stephen myself Katie Gma and the babies headed to Arlington national cemetery. It is an amazing sight to see. We have tickets to the tour Sunday so we just walked a Short distAnce to see the eternal flame of JFK ... Breathtaking- you can stand at his grvae and look back to the city and see Washington monument *That was certainly the silver lining of the bad turn of events of the day!
*unfortunate event #3 .... Kelly got sick. Poor girl was sick all last night but went to work anyway knowing we wanted a rour by our own personal tour guide! After work she ended up today walking past the library of congress and the supreme court building and as our luck would have it she ended up getting sick on the front lawn of the library of Congress! Talk about a day with no luck!

Tomorrow our plan is the city trolley tour and finish up the day at the Kennedy center! Let's hope our luck begins to change!!

Finally in Our Nations Capital

Mom has been telling J&L for weeks that we will be going to Our Nations Capital and we are FINALLY here! Yes you are reading this correct we made it in one long haul. We stopped a handful of times and the babies were simply amazing- Layla had a small 5 min meltdown only because she was fighting sleep.. The excitement of vacation was overwhelming and she didn't want to miss a thing ;) I wonder where she got that from haha

I will have plenty of updates from our weeklong adventure - but for now it's been a longgggg day and we need to unload everything we brought ... Including the wedding dress! (see last post....we brought kellys wedding dress out to get measurements for the seamstress)

On the road again!

And we're off! All the bags are packed ...( Seems like 100 bags) 4 adults and 2 babies are crammed into mom and dads van...

When we ran down what we all had packed we cAme to the conclusion we have
- 2 car seats,
double stroller,
6 suitcases,( we brought suitcases for Katie and grandma who are flying in tomorrow)
A circular saw,
a Wedding dress,
5 pillows and bedding
2 diaper bags,
2 cans or formula,
100 diApers (we are headed to the store when we get to dc for more!)
pack and play,
2 queen sized air mattress'
3 blankets,
2 cases of soda
1 case of water,
1 lb of turkey
1 lb of cheese,
a pack of hot dog buns,
2 Boppy's,
P'butter fudge
Rice crispy treats
Wheat thins and sticks
AND various other random items :)

We have made it to Mt. Vernon 1 hr down.....11 to go- I'll keep you posted!

Family Fun

The babies are growing before our eyes!  It is crazy to see them become more aware of their surroundings, and learning new things every day!  Today we spent the early morning hours at Gma & Papa G's house - Actually Jax slept ALL night (9:30pm-6:30am) but Miss Layla decided she wanted to party during the storm last night, she was up wide eyed at 3am....after a bottle and a little mommy swaying she finally went back to bed around 4...made for one tired momma! I loaded the babies up and we headed over to Gma's Gerlach's in the morning so the babies could play and I could catch a few hours sleep - the babies decided they would rest a bit as well and we finally got moving around lunch time - 

J & L's favorite cousins were in town at Gma & Papa Miles house.  They love spending time with Danielle and Callie!  It is so much fun to watch all the kids interact - I cant wait until J & L are running around playing all together!  

Today I think I found a lifelong babysitter - Danielle was sooooo good with the babies, calming them down when one of them would cry, playing with them when they were happy and overall just watching them.  I told her it would be perfect with my if she would move in and be my live in babysitter!  She said sure but Im sure her mommy and daddy would think otherwise!  But hey I thought I could offer ;)

Catching up

Where to start...I have been hit and miss with my blogs lately - I have no other excuse then by the end of the day when I have a chance for "ME" time I'm usually exhausted and would rather sleep - Sorry sad but true...after putting the kids to bed I have bottles to clean, laundry to do, toys, blankets to put up and lets not forget bottles to make for the next day!  But J & L were super tired this evening so all were in bed early! So here I am catching up on things - 

I posted a few days ago about our Vegas mommy/daddy get-a-way here are a few pictures from the weekend.  

 One HUGE part of our vacation - Laying by the pool!  Ahhh nothing better to do in 108 degree heat then lounge all day! Makes this girl happy!!

 Outside of Luxor to pick up our show tickets.  While in Vegas we watched the Criss Angel "Believe" Magic show at the Luxor - It was amazing!  We highly recommend if you are looking for a show check this out...it is not your typical magic show.

 Belliago Flower Garden...simply amazing all the flowers and different ways they set up the massive garden according to the season/holiday!

 Ahh my favorite part of Las Vegas - The dancing waters...I think I could stand and watch them for hours!

Well things are starting to fall back into place after we returned home from vegas! The kids did great at the g'parents... I really think it was harder on us then them! Now I'm looking at the mess of clothes, diapers, toys and everything baby lined up in my living room... I need to start packing for our next trip. We leave Tuesday to go visit aunt Kelly and uncle Ben. It's officially the twins first vacation and we are all so excited. We are driving out to Washington dc but flying back due to Stephens work schedule. That is the only part of the trip that has me anxious I don't want to be "that parent" that has not one but TWO crying babies on the flight. My plan is to have both Stephen And myself carry the babies in a baby bjorn and pray like crazy they are good and hopefully sleep the whole time! A girl can dream right?

Well I hear jax stirring so j better put on my momma hat and start the day! Have a good weekend -I would say enjoy the weather but it's calling for rain rain rain

Vegas

As I type I'm sitting in the airport in Las Vegas waiting to come home - We had a great trip...always good to get away but we are missing our babies terribly!

We did indeed have a good time we had a date night at Brand - the steakhouse in the Monte Carlo which was AMAZING!  We watched a show at the Luxor - Believe with Criss Angel and it was fantastic!  and last but not least we actually got a chance to sleep in!!  I never thought that was such a big deal until March 15th...when the babies were born!

I will post some pictures of our trip when I get home and settled....I might have to say one good part of the trip was this morning when I checked my facebook and Lori Craig of LC Photography had posted J&L's 3month sneek peeks!  THE ARE SOOOOOO GOOD! Tell me what you think!

We have looked at the pictures a hundred times today and it makes us want to be home so much more - and of all things our flight was DELAYED aghhhhhhhh Hopefully we will be home before the morning!

Happy Fathers Day

Its crazy how many things can change within a year!  I remember one year ago on Fathers Day Stephen and I were only discussing the thought of having "A" (..as in SINGLE..) baby ;) My how things can change!  Now I sit here typing a Happy Fathers Day blog listening to my TWO precious babies sleep I want to wish Stephen an extra special First Fathers Day!  Thank you for being such an amazing Daddy to Jax & Layla!

Congratulations Mallory!! We are so very proud of you for graduating with your Bachelors in Nursing!! 

Tonight we celebrated with her at her Graduation Party!!  The food was good the cake was yummy and the company was great!  Here are a few pictures from Jax & Layla's first big party!

Aside from the party this evening we have had quite a busy day - Stephen and I are headed out for a few days to Las Vegas which I am very excited for a little break!! Although now with the 2 babies it takes a bit more time to pack our stuff for the trip AND pack allllll of their stuff to go to Gma's!

For the 4 days we have:

8 sleepers

6 onesies

16 outfits (8/kid)...We have the King & Queen of spit-up living under our roof!!  Clothing changes are a MUST!

50 + diapers

12 pair of socks (for their feet of course and their hands...their hands get super cold at bedtime so they sleep with socks on their little hands)

4 swimming suits

4 hats (to match the swimming suits)

2 pair of sunglasses

2  cans of formula

*Enough for approx. 50 bottles

and roughly 10 headbands for Layla...Hey a girls gotta accessorize!

I cant wait to get away but anxious leaving the babies - They will be in good hands with Gma & Papa Gerlach for the first few days as well as Gma & Papa Miles for the last few days - They wont be spoiled one bit in the next 4 days...............HAHA Its more like they probably wont be put down in those 4 days LOL!

Either way fun will be had by all!

Hey Aunt Katie!

We are having a sleepy Thursday afternoon at the Miles' ....right now as I type Layla is curled up with her daddy (both sleeping!) and Jaxon is hanging out with momma

As we are enjoying our slow paced Thursday afternoon we know Aunt Katie is working hard.....or hardly working ;)

3 Month Pictures!

We had the babies 3 month pictures today - If anyone is looking for a good photographer Lori & Jamie (LC Photography) are sooooooo Good!  and patient  - Jaxon decided he would go on a hunger strike all morning before pictures at 2pm....we dressed both J & L and headed for pictures they did amazing until Jax decided the strike was over and needed a bottle.  He slugged back his 6oz. and was back ready to rock ...I can't wait to see the finished products - I'll definitely post when we get them!

We have 13 Week-ers!

Wow its crazy how time has flown by...the twins are 3 MONTHS OLD! (Officially tomorrow)  It is so much fun to watch them grow and fall into their own different personalities -

Layla is soooo Nosey ...(I wonder where she gets that maybe from her Dad HA!)  We went to the Race for the Cure Saturday and she was practically a bobble head looking around ALL DAY! I think she was afraid she would miss something - It got to the point where Gma Janet had to pick her up out of her car seat because Layla wasn't seeing enough of the action gheeesh kid!

Jaxon on the other hand is a chill as can be.  Im thinking he will be the most patient guy I'll ever know because he sits so quiet while his sister is fussin'.......Like right now she wants food - and wants it 5min. ago NOW.  Jaxon isn't phased he just sits in his swing smiling like a good little boy.
